Finding a publication is just half the battle. Determining whether the names you are researching are mentioned is the next challenge, and we've developed the Live Roots index to simplify the process. For many of the resources in our catalog, we've collected the names referenced within the resource and aggregated them into a second database.
This makes it possible to locate names within resources that may not have been digitized and transcribed online. When you search Live Roots, the engine automatically checks the index for surname matches before it searches the catalog.
In addition to searching the index, the Live Roots search engine will also check two databases from GenealogyToday.com -- the Transcribed Ephemera collection (free), and Family Tree Connection (subscription based).
